Arnaldo Maidana de Oliveira is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt born in Aracatuba – Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Starting from the early age of 7 years old, Arnaldo was introduced to martial arts beginning his training with capoeira and taekwondo up until the age of 16 where he transitioned to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Arnaldo became a student under Gilberto Gabas for years and it was Gilberto who gave Arnaldo his black belt promotion in December 2013. After making a name for himself in Brazil, Maidana then made the move to the United States to continue his professional career as a competitor and coach.

With Arnaldo’s dedication and grit it wasn’t much longer until he made a strong presence in the jiu jitsu community. He became the IBJJF American National Champion in 2015 and IBJJF World No-Gi Champion in 2017. Some of many other accomplishments by Arnaldo Maidana include: CBJJ Brazilian National Champion (2013, brown), IBJJF Rio International Open Champion (2011, purple), and IBJJF Sao Paulo International Open Champion (2012, brown).

With over 20 years of experience in mixed martial arts, Arnaldo is now teaching kids, teens, and adults exclusively in Woodland Hills at Gooch Training Academy. His goal is to prepare his students to become their best self in the gym, competitions, and out in the real world. We here at GTA are fortunate to have Professor Arnaldo Maidana be a part of our family.
