Coach Arya is a 19 year old that has been training boxing, Muay Thai, and Jiu-Jitsu for two years. He actively competes in Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and IKF Point Muay Thai competitions. He enjoys challenging himself and taking on competitions to help him excel in his MMA career.

He began assisting the coaches during the GTA kids programs. Coach Arya truly enjoys coaching and building a relationship with his students. “It makes me happy seeing someone I taught do something they’ve never done before and get it right. It’s rewarding for me as a coach and an accomplishment for the student.”

Coach Arya trains all aspects of martial arts: striking and grappling. Martial arts, especially at GTA, has became a lifestyle for him. “If I never went, I don’t know what I’d be doing right now. Not only has it made me more confident in myself, it’s made me more of a calm and happy person.”

A goal that Coach Arya would like to accomplish later in life is to open up another GTA. He plans to pass on the training and knowledge that Professor Rob and Coach Kris have shared with him throughout his journey. Coach Arya gives credit to his coaches, as he has gained a great amount of knowledge and skills solely on them. His mission is to continue training and coaching because he feels this is truly a lifestyle he wants to continue to maintain.

We asked Coach Arya: if you can tell your younger self something regarding martial arts, what would you say?

“Something I would tell my younger self is to stand up for yourself and have better habits. Be consistent with my passions and also listen to whoever is trying to help you in something.”
